House Bill 3 - Military

Pro
Con
defense for our country, keeping people safe
not necessary
military service builds character
causes PTSD
grows marketable abilities
people morally against war (pacifists, Quakers)
gives a sense of unity to everyone together
excessive fine/punishment
successful in other counties

US Military has already put the country into debt so funding necessary for this bill would only hurt the debt amount

mentally and physically stronger citizens
ot having a specific physical or mental impairments does not mean you are prepared for military service
fights obesity due to the physical demands
punishment for this bill is excessive
people take the military for granted
already plenty of volunteers, would be unnecessary
keeps people off the streets
too many extra people to control
gain country pride

raise patriotism and educational standards
ore people than ever have been kicked out of military for disorderly conduct even before this bill, so that number would only increase if un willing people were forced to be in the military
appreciate their rights
statistics have shown that when people are forced to do things against their will, they are more likely to purposely fail, and we do not want people who would go against our country in the military
builds lasting friendships

people will feel as if freedom is being taken away from them

House Bill 3

Pro

Con

Can help the military find more recruits
Takes family members away from loved ones
Will make the country stronger while fighting enemies
More people will die.
Have more experience or resources
Cost more towards the government.
Have different levels and areas of expertise
People over 30 may be at a lesser physical state than a 21 year old.
Receive free scholarships or money towards paying for a scholarship and other benefits.
Can cause serious harm to more United States citizens than there already are.
helps people gain valuable skills going into the workforce
Military’s budget has been cut lower.
studies show military service builds character
MIlitary will have to create a substantial amount of housing for the trainees.
Mandatory military service has proven successful and helpful to other countries who have tried it like Turkey
US Citizens may purposely harm themselves to not be considered “able bodied.”
mentally and physically stronger citizens
May lack motivation.
fights obesity due to the physical demands
Average pay for an enlisted person in the military for less than or equal to two years is $2052.51

raise patriotism and educational standards
(does military actually give a worthwhile education?)(what if they don’t want to be there?)
Everyone will have military benefits, military won’t be able to support all of the benefits.
forces citizens to appreciate their rights-isnt that an oxymoron
The military has very high standards and if you let everyone in you will have to lower your standards.
teaches people how to use firearms properly and self defense (do we need people who actually know?)-it is illegal to walk with a firearm on a street unless you have a permit that is granted to a civilian with a judge’s consent
Could cause a need for a work force.
if people’s relatives are in service, maybe they will show more respect so nothing like what happened to Vietnam veterans coming home from war will happen again
Not everyone is military oriented, and could be a danger or hinderance to their barracks or squad. (Quality over quantity)
There would be more jobs available for non military persons.
Less respect for those who actually dedicated themselves to serving our country.

Humanity’s population goes down

People could feel as though their freedom is being taken away.

There is no current lack of volunteers, so we don’t need more.
The people who don't cooperate will serve up to 5 years in jail. (How is this a pro?)
What do you do with those who resist and refuse to cooperate?

By taking all able-bodied american citizens
for 2 years of service, you leave america
with “ not able-bodied” citizens for a work
force.

People will try to evade recruitment and will be put in federal prison for 5 years, and since there are guaranteed to be people who try to evade it, there will be an inflation in prisons, which will be expensive for the government, and will raise taxes, and will give all of these people criminal records, which could make it more difficult to get a job.

Here's an article about a current soldier who has been disrespectful to our flag. Can use this as reason why someone who doesn't want to join the military might also behave this way.
